About this speaker
Rachel Joines is a passionate quilter, long-arm artist, teacher, and Certified Stripology Instructor with over 20 years of experience bringing enthusiasm and creativity to every quilt she makes. As the owner of Rachel’s Quilt Company, she combines tradition with innovation, sharing her love for quilting through workshops, lectures, and guild presentations.
Rachel’s quilting journey began while taking lessons in Anchorage, Alaska. During that time, she discovered that the foundations of good basic quilting skills are the key to long-term success. She still relies on those early lessons today and loves sharing those same skills with others. In her Plaids, Patches and Pockets video, Rachel demonstrates how to upcycle clothing into a simple leaf block, inspired by an old family quilt. She breaks down the process step by step, showing beginners how approachable quilting can be. And in a modern twist, instead of using the traditional appliqué stem from her heirloom quilt, Rachel teaches how to piece it with ease using the Stripology Ruler.
Whether finishing quilts with her long-arm machine, teaching in-person or virtually, Rachel’s goal is to make quilting fun, achievable, and deeply rewarding. She loves **inspiring quilters of all levels** to find joy in the process, not just the finished project.
When she isn’t at her sewing machine, Rachel enjoys traveling, speaking at quilt guilds, and sharing her enthusiasm for quilting with her local community. Her lectures and workshops are filled with practical tips, encouragement, and stories that connect quilting’s rich traditions to today’s modern maker.
